Dear fellow EDEY PhD students,
EDEY has the possibility to have two PhD student representatives. Beginning 2022, we would like to elect the second student representative for our program. To give you an idea of the amount of work required as a PhD representative, here are the "duties" that we have as representatives:
- Attend the EDEY committee meetings, where we would give our opinion on EDEY topics, and/or suggest new ideas that benefit the PhD students, 4-5 meetings per year.
- Be part of a Slack team with all the PhD representatives at EPFL, where we can exchange information about each others' programs and projects.
- Take turns with the other PhD representatives to attend the CDoct meetings with all the program directors and vote on different topics. If all PhD representatives take turns, we each attend 1 or 2 meetings per year.
- If possible, attend the meetings (2 per year) with the Vice-President for Education and all the other PhD representatives, where a lot of discussion about PhD students' well-being is taking place.
I would estimate the amount of time spent as one hour per week, at most. As a PhD representative, you will meet many different and new people across campus, and have more insight on how EPFL works as an institution. You will also have a lot of space for creative ideas, as there is always room for creative new projects to improve the EDEY community.
Feel free to shoot me an email (ayush.agarwal@epfl.ch), and I can give you more details!
