Doctoral Teaching Award | 2026 Call for nominations
Have you followed a doctoral course that truly inspired you? Have you had a teacher who made complex ideas clear, sparked engaging discussions, or supported your doctoral journey? Now is your chance to recognise them.
The Doctoral School is pleased to announce the launch of the Doctoral Teaching Award, recognising excellence in teaching doctoral courses. The award will be presented at La Doctorale in November 2026. PhD candidates are invited to nominate up to three teachers who teach doctoral courses.

Doctoral Program Directors | Appointments
- Prof. Pavan Ramdya has been appointed Director of the Doctoral Program in Neuroscience (EDNE) starting March 1, 2026.
- Prof. Bruno Correia's mandate as Director of the Doctoral Program in Biotechnology and Bioengineering (EDBB) has been extended until May 31, 2027.
- Prof. Anastasios Vassilopoulos' mandate as Director of the Doctoral Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering (EDCE) has been extended until June 30, 2027.
- Prof. Giovanni Boero's mandate as Director of the Doctoral Program in Microsystems and Microelectronics (EDMI) has been extended until August 31, 2027.

Transversal Skills Course | ENG-645(b) Create-Protect-Innovate: Bringing ideas to market
This fully online course, developed by the European Patent Office, is available to EPFL PhD candidates giving 2 ECTS credits. It introduces key concepts on how to protect inventions and bring innovative ideas to market. Through real-life inventor stories, participants will learn why and how inventions are patented and how intellectual property rights (IPRs) can be integrated into business strategies.
Course dates: 23 March – 30 June 2026
