Management | Upcoming changes in 2025

As you may know, from 1 January 2025, EPFL will see some important management changes under the new presidency of Anna Fontcuberta i Morral. As part of these changes, the Associate Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Education (AVP-PGE) will be renamed to Associate Vice Presidency for Doctoral and Lifelong Education (AVP-DLE).

We are very pleased to welcome Anne-Marie Kermarrec as our future Associate Vice President for Doctoral and Lifelong Education (AVP-DLE). She has led the Scalable Computing Systems Laboratory (SaCS) within the School of Computer and Communication Sciences since 2020, prior to which she spent five years at the helm of Mediego, an online content-personalization startup she founded in 2015. She is a strong advocate for gender equality in computer science, and in science in general.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Annalisa Buffa for her outstanding leadership and dedication to the Doctoral School. We wish her every success as she transitions to her new role as Associate Vice President for Research (AVP-R)

The Doctoral School looks forward to this new chapter and the exciting developments ahead!

💡

Did you know?

Anyone working on an SNSF-funded research project who becomes a parent during this period faces numerous questions. Whom should I contact? What are the regulations governing maternity leave / other parent leave? Can I take unpaid leave as well? Are there additional funding opportunities for parents working in research? etc...

The SNSF has recently updated their guide that explains how project can be extended in case of parenthood. You can find the guide in DE / EN / FR on this website
