PhD Excellence Program | Third cohort launched

Congratulations to the 30 doctoral candidates who have been selected for the third cohort of the PhD Excellence Program. They embarked on their journey with a welcome event held on April 25 at Les Bois Chamblard, where we were thrilled to host around 60 attendees. During the event, participants were given an overview of the program and heard testimonials from previous cohorts about their experiences and best practices. This was followed by an aperitif dinner and games,  giving everyone a chance to network with each other. We are excited to see them dive into the program and wish them every success in their endeavors.

EPFL Doc.Mobility | Grant recipients of the 6th call

We are pleased to announce the selection of eight outstanding doctoral candidates from the EDCH, EDEE, EDAM and EDIC doctoral programs for the 6th call of the EPFL Doc.Mobility grant. Starting in June 2024, these researchers will begin their international research stays, spreading their wings at prestigious universities across the USA and Italy. We exend our congratulations and wish them every success in the realisation of their research project.

Doctoral School | New team members

We're happy to announce the arrival of two new members of the EDOC team. Find out more below and join us in welcoming Julie and Marina! We're excited to have them on board and wish them every success in their new roles!

Julie hails from Toulouse in south-west France, where she studied biochemistry and plant biology up to doctoral level. During her academic journey, she was a PhD representative for her doctoral school, giving her in-depth understanding of the challenges that doctoral candidates may face. Prior to joining our team on April 1, 2024, she has been a consultant in project financing and innovation at the EPSA Group in Lyon. Her arrival follows the departure of Rebekah Wells at the end of 2023. In her new role, Julie will be coordinating various initiatives, including the PhD Excellence program.

Marina's career path has taken her from a technical degree at the University of Lyon, to a Masters at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, and a PhD at EPFL. Her thesis work focused on novel technologies for solar-to-hydrogen conversion for the European project Sun-to-X. Her professional experience includes roles at Toyota Motor Europe R&D and Ferroglobe working on large-scale R&D initiatives in materials science, renewable energy technology and sustainable development,  before joining our team on April 15. Currently Marina coordinates the EuroTeQ project at EPFL aimed at creating a European network of both universities and industrial partners to support excellence in engineering. IIn this capacity, she is working jointly with the Doctoral School, CCTC and Continuing Education teams, and will be in charge of developing the course catalog.
