Julie hails from Toulouse in south-west France, where she studied biochemistry and plant biology up to doctoral level. During her academic journey, she was a PhD representative for her doctoral school, giving her in-depth understanding of the challenges that doctoral candidates may face. Prior to joining our team on April 1, 2024, she has been a consultant in project financing and innovation at the EPSA Group in Lyon. Her arrival follows the departure of Rebekah Wells at the end of 2023. In her new role, Julie will be coordinating various initiatives, including the PhD Excellence program.
Marina's career path has taken her from a technical degree at the University of Lyon, to a Masters at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, and a PhD at EPFL. Her thesis work focused on novel technologies for solar-to-hydrogen conversion for the European project Sun-to-X. Her professional experience includes roles at Toyota Motor Europe R&D and Ferroglobe working on large-scale R&D initiatives in materials science, renewable energy technology and sustainable development, before joining our team on April 15. Currently Marina coordinates the EuroTeQ project at EPFL aimed at creating a European network of both universities and industrial partners to support excellence in engineering. IIn this capacity, she is working jointly with the Doctoral School, CCTC and Continuing Education teams, and will be in charge of developing the course catalog.
