Call for Proposals 2025, ESA Phi-Lab Switzerland at the European Space Deep-Tech Innovation Centre (ESDI): Quantum in Space

Phi-Lab at ESDI's first call for proposals is now open in Quantum in Space!  Apply to this call and receive funding between 200,000 to 990,000 CHF for your project over a 24-month period and guidance from experts. They seek breakthrough approaches linked to technology conundrums worth solving that aim at demonstrating significant progress in areas like:
- Control system miniaturization, all the way to chip-scale
- Environmental resilience, including thermal and vibration management
- Sensor integration, such as by combining multiple quantum sensing modalities
- Scalable production methods suitable for commercial manufacturing

These awards aim to attract and empower excellent female students who will conduct their master’s project at EPFL in the research areas represented at the QSE Center. The awardee will receive 8,000 CHF paid to them directly. External applicants are eligible for up to an additional 2,000 CHF for travel expenses. International Year of Quantum Science and Technology launched in Paris and Geneva!

On 21 February 2025, the Geneva Conservatory of Music hosted over 100 members of the International Geneva community to celebrate the launch of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), following its official inauguration earlier this month at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The QSE Center attended both events, with Academic Director Prof. Vincenzo Savona speaking in Geneva as part of a panel on "Identifying and addressing the gap in Education Resources in the field of QST".
