Return of QSE Junior Quantum Seminars

TBC

The QSE Junior Quantum Seminars will be returning soon! These seminars bring together junior researchers – master's students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers – to share their work with one another, and encourage scientific cross-fertilization and knowledge transfer between EPFL’s many groups focusing on quantum physics. We will notify our newsletter subscribers and advertise on our website and social media channels once the seminars have restarted in the coming weeks.

Funding opportunities

INSPIRE Quantum Master's Award

These awards aim to attract and empower excellent female students who will conduct their master’s project in the research areas represented at the QSE Center. The awardee will receive 8,000 CHF paid to them directly. External applicants are eligible for up to an additional 2,000 CHF for travel expenses. Possible Futures of Quantum Technologies workshop

On August 28, QSE Center Directors Vincenzo Savona and Philippe Caroff participated in the "Possible Futures of Quantum Technologies" workshop of the Univeristy of Zurich's Digital Society Intiative. The goal of the workshop was to indentify possible scenarios and consequences of the devleopment of quantum technologies in different sub-fields, on different timescales, and from different perspectives. Discussions were centered around quantum computing, quantum communications, and quantum sensing. The day started with short talks on the current status of the field, followed by the discussions focused on different scenarios of the technology development. The eventual outcome of the workshop discussions will be a white paper.
